I made this cape for the Australian National Fashion Awards, it is a butterfly - only one wing visible here! Catriona is modeling it for me at the competition. Another scrumbled item, as the wings are (almost) symmetrical there is a lot of sewing of motifs together. Topped off with a crocheted beret in a yarn with sequins.

Japanese inspired jacket

My jacket won a third place at Sydney's Royal Easter Show this week.
Even better news my 13 year old daughter won First prize for her dress and it has been put in the standards of excellence case - I am very proud of her.

Ra-inspired by royalty, Egyptian

I think this is one of my favourite cushions. It is a homage to Ra the Egyptian Sun God. The fabrics used are satins which magically change to a suede appearance once punched.

Autumn octagon

New ruler, used to make patchwork centrepiece.

HOC 4 - new colours, new threads

In the Heat of the night, Scrumbled shawl

In the Heat of the night, detail

Scrumbling has been described as patchwork with yarns. Most of my work is crocheted as I find this gives wonderful textures easily and quickly.
I teach Scrumbling - contact me for class details.

Japanese inspired jacket

I have been having a break from pillows, and have just finished my entries for the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Japanese inspired jacket - foundation piecing, piping, embroidery and wonderful fabrics make up this reversible jacket.
In the heat of the night - scrumblied shawl - in shades of red, crochet using many stitches and yarns to give wonderful texture.
Punched pillow - Another HOC style pillow, as I had to be anonymous and all the others are signed.

Tropical winds, the colours may not be vibrant enough to convey a feel of the tropics after a storm.

Tropical Winds back

I was lucky, and won a set of Christopher Nejmans designs in a competition http://www.bagsandpillows.com/ I combined some designs and used for the back of this pillow.

Tropical Winds

Tropical Winds is a pillow I am finding difficult to master. There is another one on the sewing machine just now. Here is one of my earlier attempts.

Under the sea

Based on the Harem of Colour pillow found in Christopher Nejman's book, I made this cushion in blues and turquoises, the colours remind me of the Great Barrier reef, where the warm waters, corals and tropical fish are a myriad of colour and textures.

Harem of Colour Pillow

Harem of Colour

Think of the colours you would find in a Harem, beautiful women in beautifully exotic clothes, rich, bright colours abound, there is the sparkle of jewels and of gold.
Visions of colour, texture and fun.

January 2008 - a new start

I am excited at being 'promoted' to Christopher Nejman's Certification Group, where a collection of very talented ladies are learning punching techniques - nothing physical , honest!. We are achieving different methods of punching fabrics to a base and in the process creating wonderful textures and colours which would be impossible any other way.
It's lots of fun, and a great way to use up all those scraps of fine and fancy fabrics (so why do I need to go and buy more?)

Currently a RA cushion is in progress - what does that mean
Purple back ground for royalty
Black squares encapsulating a golden sun
black and white ribbons and a black border
with mirrors and crystals to add lots of sparkle
