Based on the Harem of Colour pillow found in Christopher Nejman's book, I made this cushion in blues and turquoises, the colours remind me of the Great Barrier reef, where the warm waters, corals and tropical fish are a myriad of colour and textures.
Think of the colours you would find in a Harem, beautiful women in beautifully exotic clothes, rich, bright colours abound, there is the sparkle of jewels and of gold. Visions of colour, texture and fun.
I have been making things all my life.
Sewing when I was young. Knitting and crocheting in my teenage years. In the last few years I have been doing a lot more freeform work, scrumbling, beading, quilting and now fabric punching. I don't like rules, but accept that you need to know what they are so you know when you are able to bend or break them.
I was born in Scotland, and emigrated to Australia in 1986. We live in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. I am married and have 2 children and a cat - who knows when I am busy and that is when she wants attention.
